De Rossi Genoa Effect Transforms the Season
You can call it the De Rossi effect. Since Daniele De Rossi arrived at Genoa, the atmosphere has shifted completely.
Before Daniele De Rossi took over as Genoa manager on 6 November 2025, the team was at the bottom of the Serie A table.
Under their last manager, Patrick Vieira, Genoa had failed to win any of their opening games. When the change happened, the team had only got six points from ten games.
Daniele De Rossi brought new ideas, a new playing system and, above all, the fire and passion that always distinguished him as a player. These characteristics have helped Genoa climb out of last place.
Results Improve and Confidence Grows
At the moment, the Rossoblu are in 15th place in Serie A, five points above the relegation zone.
In De Rossi’s nine games as Genoa boss, the Roman coach has lost only three times, as you’d expect, against Inter, Atalanta and Roma.
But it’s not just the pitch that makes Genoa look good; the vibe among the players is also positive.
There’s been no news or updates on a possible sale of Brooke Norton-Cuffy since the Roman coach spoke highly of the Englishman (saying, “he has tremendous potential”).
Key Players Commit to the Genoa Project
At the same time, other players are declaring their love for the team. They’re ready to give their all for the Rossoblu cause and for the Roman coach until the end of the season. One of them is Lorenzo Colombo.
There’s no denying that the Genoa striker has found consistency with the arrival of Daniele De Rossi, scoring five goals, three of which came in the last three league games.
The centre forward is pretty close to being redeemed by Grifone. The Milan obligation will actually be triggered when he reaches 22 league appearances (he’s currently at 20) and scores more than five goals (only one more to go):
“I’d be very happy, of course, because I’m enjoying myself immensely. I’m a fan of the city, the training centre, the staff, the club as a whole, and I’m especially taken with the stadium. I really want it to happen.”
In a recent interview, young Patrizio Masini said he wants to stay at Genoa for good. The Rossoblu midfielder has got consecration from De Rossi after he recently admitting that “I’ll always want someone like him on my team.”
