Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas is close to a move to Bournemouth, with talks apparently in the final stages.
Several Italian reports say the English Premier League club are now close to an agreement on the deal structure.
Mandas has barely featured for Lazio this season, making just one appearance in December’s Coppa Italia win over AC Milan.
However, how much Lazio could earn for the sale of Mandas has been the subject of conflicting reports.
Lazio could earn up to €22m for sale of Christos Mandas to Bournemouth
Matteo Moretto has reported that Lazio and Bournemouth are close to striking a deal between €20-22m for Christos Mandas.
This deal is “increasingly likely” to consist of a loan move with a potential obligation to buy, added Moretto.
“Lazio and Bournemouth are closing in on a deal for Christos Mandas,” he said.
“The deal is increasingly likely to be a loan with a potential mandatory buyout option. The overall deal is estimated at €20-22m.”
Calciomercato.it, meanwhile, described the transfer as a loan with a right to buy, with figures reported as €4m up front and €14.5m later.
And La Lazio Siamo Noi have reported negotiations based on a loan with an obligation around €17m, with both sides working to close.
Why Lazio are happy to sell Christos Mandas
Christos Mandas is 24 and a Greece international, but he has not been first-choice at Lazio this season.
Marco Baroni often picked Mandas last term, but Maurizio Sarri has consistently preferred Ivan Provedel in goal.
With that in mind, the €1m signing from OFI Crete will need to leave if he wants first-team football.
And Lazio seem more than willing to let him go, with a move to the English Premier League seemingly on the cards.
Bournemouth will be getting themselves a talented young keeper with a great blend of experience and potential.
Mandas can still improve, and a long-term goalkeeper is one of the most valuable pieces in a squad.
As for Lazio, they will make a big profit on a player who cost them just €1m, along with the chance to reshape their goalkeeping setup.
Busy transfer window for Lazio
The Biancocelesti have had a busy transfer window, with two major sales and two big arrivals already taking place.
Lazio sold Taty Castellanos to one of Bournemouth’s English rivals, West Ham, at the start of the January window.
Matteo Guendouzi then joined Fenerbahce, where he enjoyed a dream debut by scoring in the Turkish Supercup final.
Lazio have also landed replacements in midfielder Kenneth Taylor from Ajax and forward Petar Ratkov from Red Bull Salzburg.
Maurizio Sarri’s charges currently sit ninth in the Serie A table, six points adrift of the European places.
