Everton striker Beto has been offered to Juventus, according to the latest transfer news.

As per journalist Nicolo Schira, an intermediary made the surprise proposal over the weekend.

Luciano Spalletti has made no secret of the fact that he wants to sign a new frontman this month, but pursuits of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Youssef En-Nesyri have so far failed to result in an agreement.

As a result, the club could look for a bargain swoop in the Premier League, with Beto said to now be on their radar.

However, they are likely to face stern competition for his signature. Indeed, Turkish Super Lig outfit Fenerbahce are also interested and reportedly met with his representatives in recent days.

Everton boss David Moyes is not willing to allow Beto to leave, and insisted he was not aware of any deal.

Speaking during a recent press conference, he said: “I know nothing about it at the moment, no.

“We wouldn’t [be prepared to let him go] because we’ve not got enough [forwards].”

Beto has scored just two goals in 22 top-flight appearances this season, and would certainly represent an eyebrow-raising option for Juventus.

The 27-year-old completed his switch to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in 2023, but has been inconsistent. Damningly, he has also been ousted as Moyes’ first-choice striker by Thierno Barry.

But he is a physical presence in and around the box and could be a good match for the Old Lady, especially with Spalletti desperate for a no-nonsense target man able to hold up the ball.

Rasmus Hojlund was mentioned as an example after Napoli’s 3-0 defeat in Turin at the weekend.

Both Como and Fiorentina have also been tipped to move for Beto, with the transfer deadline rapidly approaching.

Luciano Spalletti Wants New Mateta Push

Despite the links to Beto, Spalletti appears to still be prioritising Mateta.

According to Tuttomercato, he has requested that the club make a new bid for the Palace ace. The Premier League side, though, are only willing to let him go with a simple obligation to buy.

Mateta played 85 minutes of Palace’s 3-0 loss against Chelsea on Sunday, and looks likely to stay at Selhurst Park.

Instead, Juventus could reignite talks over Federico Chiesa and Joshua Zirkzee. Both players have failed to make an impact this season, and a switch to the Allianz Stadium would represent a timely escape route.

Crucially, Spalletti has already worked with Chiesa with the Azzurri and appreciates Zirkzee’s ability to link play.
