Now in his sixth year at Juventus, he’s the player who’s worn Bianconeri’s shirt for the longest time compared to the others on the team.
The American keeps on experiencing the cycle of being the first player sold in the summer and the first player kept in the winter.
But this time, it seems like things are different.
McKennie still has six more months left on his current Juventus contract, and there have been rumors for a while that his contract might be renewed.

Why the Renewal Is Still on Hold
Scouts from major European clubs have definitely noticed McKennie’s impressive stats with Juventus this year. And that’s not all.
The 28-year-old American midfielder is in high demand among coaches because he can play a bunch of different roles on the field without ever sacrificing quality.
So why hasn’t he renewed his contract with the Bianconeri yet?
After six years at Juventus, it’s time for Weston McKennie to decide on the next step for his career.
At 28 years old and halfway through what is currently his best season with seven goals and four assists between the league and cups, the Bianconeri’s wild card will meet again with management to seek a final agreement.

Roma Move Early as Juventus Hesitate
The situation. Cory Gibbs is Weston McKennie’s agent.
At the end of 2025, Gibbs firmly denied rumors of a breakdown in renewal negotiations with the Bianconeri club, calling reports of an alleged departure or failed agreements over commissions unfounded.
Since then, Gibbs and Juventus haven’t had a chance to talk about renewing his contract.
English clubs like Aston Villa and Tottenham are still trying to get him, but there’s also a chance he could end up further south than Turin rather than overseas.
Last Saturday, Fredric Massara tried to get ahead of the game.
He traveled to Turin to talk to Cory Gibbs over dinner before returning to Rome to watch Roma vs. Milan. Roma wants to meet McKennie’s €6 million salary demands, but Juventus isn’t having it.
Weston McKennie would be another great addition for Gian Piero Gasperini as Roma continues to grow.
