Despite scoring four goals in his last five Serie A matches, the forward has not entirely convinced Massimiliano Allegri or Igli Tare. As a result, Nkunku could leave Milan before the transfer window slams shut.

He had joined from Chelsea last summer in a £36million deal, following an underwhelming two-year stay in the Premier League. But he endured a similarly turbulent opening spell in Italy, dogged by poor form.

However, he looked to have finally found his feet after scoring four times in a month, netting twice against Hellas Verona, once against Fiorentina and another from the penalty spot against Como.

The 28-year-old began to perform with more confidence, and Milan believe there is more to come.

Despite their significant investment in him, the Rossoneri actively worked to offload him in January, only for negotiations with Fenerbahce to collapse. Nkunku then publicly insisted he wanted to stay at the San Siro.

According to Calciomercato, while Allegri and Tare are ‘satisfied’ with his performances, he has not done enough to be permanently taken off the chopping block. Milan are therefore ready to entertain bids over the coming days.

With the likes of Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic and even Niclas Fullkrug favoured, Nkunku is far from indispensable.

Transfer Prediction Made

Calciomercato, however, have claimed that the ace is likely to stay at Milan, with the caveat that the unpredictable market could lead to a dramatic, late twist in the final knockings of the winter window.

Fenerbahce have shown no signs of reigniting their interest, while the Premier League is a potential destination.

Should interested parties step forward, they would have to pay at least €35m. Milan splashed out €38m to bring him in from Stamford Bridge at the start of the season, and they are adamant they will not take a financial hit.

Nkunku has made 19 appearances this campaign, scoring five goals and registering two assists.

Handed a start in the 1-1 draw with Roma last time out, the press criticised Nkunku for a limp display.

Eurosport gave him an average 5/10 rating, writing: “Preferred to Pulisic. He fails to make an impact. [Evan] Ndicka beats him twice in the run-up. Harmless and defused.”

Sky Sport Italia also dished out a 5, with Nkunku having failed to click with his strike partner Leao.
