Ademola Lookman has seen his future with Atalanta take another turn after an interesting update from the club’s CEO Luca Percassi.
Atalanta CEO Provides Ademola Lookman Update
Luca Percassi has provided an update over Ademola Lookman’s Future with Atalanta, as the club’s CEO has revealed the likelihood of a January exit.
The Nigerian has been linked with a move away for multiple months now after a public transfer request last season and missing Atalanta’s pre-season in hopes of forcing an exit.
Despite this, Lookman remained in Bergamo and helped Atalanta secure a place in the Champions League Ro16, as the three remaining Italian sides wait to see who they will face.
Lookman’s Atalanta career was called into question once again after the club signed Giacomo Raspadori from Atletico Madrid, but Percassi has explained why this signing will not impact the Nigerian.
Percassi said: “Lookman leaving in January? Raspadori’s arrival didn’t mean he’d leave. Raspadori’s arrival was a transfer opportunity that didn’t require the sale of a player.
“We’re happy that Giacomo chose Atalanta; he’s an important player, like Ademola.”
La Dea currently sit seventh in Serie A, eight-points off a Champions League place and Raffaele Palladino will need to ignite a major push for the remainder of the season.
Losing Lookman would be a huge detriment to Atalanta’s hopes this season, but the Serie A side may have no choice as multiple Premier League sides are reportedly monitoring the Nigerian’s situation.
Premier League Sides Monitor Lookman
During the 2025 summer transfer window, Ademola Lookman was heavily linked with a return to the Premier League after attracting interest from Arsenal.
The 28-year-old made 96 appearances in England’s top-flight during his spells with Fulham, Everton and Leicester, but failed to show any signs of the player that has been electric in Italy.
Premier League sides are expected to reignite their interest in Lookman during the summer and the Nigerian could be available for a lower fee as his deal expires in June 2027.
Atalanta are looking to extend several contracts in 2026, as Gianluca Scamacca considers a new deal and Lookman may also receive an improved deal.
La Dea are also willing to consider offers from clubs this summer after rejecting multiple bids from Inter Milan last year and the Italian side will drop their asking price for teams outside of Serie A.
According to reports, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Aston Villa are all keeping tabs on Lookman’s situation in Bergamo, as Atalanta have set a €35m price tag.
