Gigi Buffon’s agent Silvano Martina believes the legendary Italian goalkeeper will stay at Parma for one more season, if they manage to get promoted to Serie A. The veteran keeper played his 50th game at the San Siro on Tuesday night and made a vital save to deny Inter, despite ultimately losing the match 2-1.
Speaking to TuttoSport, Martina talked about Gigi’s immediate future and what he may do next:
“He has two years left in his contract, but we’ll talk at the end of the season and Gigi will be free to make the best decision for himself.
Surely, he still feels competitive. To me, if Parma get promoted, he will surely continue. If not, he could still continue, but only if he is sure to be at the top. Serie B is a very difficult league and what Parma did the other night against Inter proves it.”
Buffon has made 960 appearances in total over 28 seasons, featuring at four different clubs in a career that began back in 1995 when he was just 17-years-old.
