Salernitana have officially confirmed that Paulo Sousa has replaced Davide Nicola as the clubs new manager. Club CEO Danilo Iervolino first fired Nicola at the start of the year, just after Salernitana’s 8-2 defeat to Atalanta, shortly before reappointing just two days later.
The club are now in 16th place with Nicola having lost seven of his final 10 games in charge – winning just once. The latest defeat, a 1-0 loss to Verona, has seen Nicola sacked once again and Sousa bought in to replace him. The club confirmed the news with a brief statement on their official website:
U.S. Salernitana 1919 announces that it has reached an agreement with Mr. Paulo Sousa and entrusted him with the technical guidance of the first team.
