Napoli were held to a 1-1 draw against Udinese but it was enough to see them win the 2022-23 Serie A title! It’s been a 33-year wait for the Partenopei, but they finally lift their 3rd Scudetto after dominating the league while playing some of the best football in Europe this season.
Speaking to a gathered crowd at the Stadio Maradona, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis spoke to a sold-out stadium and promised it would be the beginning of a new era for the club:
“Today is the crowning of an expectation that lasted 33 years. When I arrived, I said it will take 10 years to get into Europe, we achieved that ahead of schedule. I said it would take another 10 years to win the Scudetto, and we did that again a couple of years in advance. Now we need to win it again, and again, and again. And of course, we’re missing the Champions League.”
