Alcaraz agent: ‘It was hard for him to refuse Juventus’

The agent of new Juventus midfielder Carlos Alcaraz revealed the whole transfer came about in 48 hours: “It was a unique opportunity for the player, hard to refuse.” Speaking with TuttoJuve journalist Mirko Di Natale, Sebastian Lopez talked through the deadline day deal, explaining how there was interest in his client from the Premier League, but it was hard to turn down Juve:

“It’s a very important step for his career; it’s a dream for him to join a top club like Juve. He wants to make his mark.”

Can you tell us how the negotiation with Juventus unfolded?

“The whole process took place in the last two days of the transfer market; the operation lasted 48 hours. It was a unique opportunity for the player, hard to refuse.”

What will be Carlos’s goal wearing the Juventus shirt?

“The goal will be to help the team win titles and successes. He wants to continue growing, and his intention is to add experience and establish an excellent relationship with the club and its fans.”

Were there other clubs interested in him? There was much talk about the possibility of him going to Nottingham Forest.

“Two Premier League clubs were chasing him, with significant possibilities of signing him in this transfer market. I cannot reveal more.”

Can you tell us what Carlos’s best qualities are?

“He possesses great qualities, a lot of dedication, and a very strong mentality. He is a box-to-box player with a strong offensive inclination. Fans will fall in love with his dedication.”

Why the jersey number 26? Is there a special meaning?

“It’s a shirt that Cañharly used at Racing and Southampton upon his arrival, and it brought him good results.”
