Allegri’s future at Juventus in serious doubt

Reports from a host of newspapers and news outlets suggest Max Allegri’s future at Juventus is in serious doubt. The Bianconeri slumped to a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Empoli on Monday, the latest in a series of disappointing results for the club who have endured a torrid season.

Speaking on Radiobianconera yesterday, Goal Italia’s Juventus correspondent Romeo Agresti talked about the current situation, saying that ‘evaluations are underway’ regarding Allegri’s position at the club. Agresti suggested that comments earlier in the day from Exor Chairman John Elkann may have offered a hint about the coaching situation in Turin, given that he mentioned Allegri in reference to only the last two games of the season.

Tuttomercatoweb journalist Marco Conterio wrote on similar lines, suggesting that Allegri’s future ‘lies in the balance’ because of a number of factors that have impacted the season, including reports of disharmony in the Juventus dressing room.

Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport report that there was a phone call between Elkann and Allegri after the defeat to Empoli, with Elkann reportedly unhappy with the feeling of ‘victimhood’ that was transferred from the dressing room after the loss.

Finally, Tuttosport claim that the coaches future at Juve is not 100% and suggest that Allegri will not be resigning, but may well be fired once the season is out.
