Antonio Conte embraces Napoli culture and aims to revitalise the team

Start

New Napoli maager Antonio Conte has been making headlines with his enthusiastic embrace of the club’s culture and his commitment to revitalizing the team. Recently, Conte made a late-night visit to the famous Maradona mural in the Spanish Quarters of Naples, avoiding the daytime crowds to pay his respects to the club legend.

Conte described the experience as “a very beautiful thing, you breathe a special air, there’s a crazy energy there. That’s a place of worship. I wanted to go, I’m happy I did it.” This gesture has endeared him further to the Napoli faithful, who have welcomed him warmly since his arrival.

Calciomercato reports how the Italian manager has not shied away from public interactions, even in potentially awkward situations. During the pre-season training camp in Dimaro, fans asked him to join in chants against his former club Juventus. Conte handled the situation diplomatically, respecting his past while declaring, “I am the first Napoli fan,” much to the delight of the supporters present.

From his first press conference, Conte spoke of a “debt” he feels towards Napoli fans, having received immense affection before even starting his work. He quickly adopted the collective “we” in his speeches, speaking as if he had already been part of the team’s recent history. This approach, while causing some initial skepticism, has largely been well-received.

Conte’s impact has been immediate on the pitch, with Napoli winning their first two matches under his guidance. The team has shown a newfound ability to react to adversity, something that had been lacking in recent times. However, the manager is aware that there is still a long road ahead to achieve their goals.

Off the field, Conte and his family are settling into life in Naples. They have found a home in a well-known residential area near Via Tasso, a location favored by previous players and coaches. The proximity to both the city center and training facilities will allow Conte to fully immerse himself in his new role.
