Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci says the club are working on a contract renewal for coach Thiago Motta: ‘We’ve already spoken with him.’ The Rossoblu are remarkably undefeated in the league since the first day of the season, going 10 matches without a loss, climbing to 6th in the table. Speaking with Radio Anch’io Sport on Rai Radio 1, Fenucci revealed that the club are keen to tie Motta down to a longer deal after his impressive managerial displays:
“Thiago Motta’s merits are there for all to see. The team has been completed and reinforced. He is continuing to mould this group of boys, everyone follows him with harmony. We’re getting good results, we’re happy with the start of the season, but then, as always, all attention is already focused on next week’s Apennine derby against Fiorentina.
“Contract extension? We’re working on it, we’ve already spoken with him, it’s a negotiation that we don’t want to make too public as it is our style. When there is news, we will publish it. However we would be willing and happy to continue a relationship with him over time. Also because together it is possible to achieve something that was more complex in the past at Bologna, even though we always had quiet championships. With Thiago’s work, we have managed to raise the level of competitiveness’.
“I would like to have a long relationship with the coach, which would give a future perspective to the work being done. I also believe he is happy at Bologna, he is very happy with the moment he is experiencing, all the prerequisites are there. When they materialise, we will be happy to announce the continuation of the relationship. We’ve been talking about it for several weeks already’.
“European football? The enthusiasm in Bologna is now palpable, we are happy to make our fans happy. But we are aware that the path is very long. Now the head is projected towards the away match in Florence, it will be a very difficult game. Then we will see if, match after match, we can build some dreams.”
