Inter Milan’s Brazilian defender Carlos Augusto is making progress in his recovery from an injury sustained during the Champions League match against Young Boys in Bern on October 23. The left thigh flexor strain has caused him to miss five consecutive matches against Juventus, Empoli, Venezia, Arsenal, and Napoli.
Calciomercato report that the 24-year-old has been working separately at Inter’s training ground in Appiano Gentile but is expected to rejoin full team training at the beginning of next week. The club’s medical staff and manager Simone Inzaghi are targeting his return for the away fixture against Hellas Verona on Saturday, November 23.
Carlos Augusto joined Inter in the summer of 2023 for €13.25 million from Monza and is under contract until June 2028, earning €2.2 million net per year. Since his arrival, he has made 55 appearances for the Nerazzurri, contributing one goal and four assists while receiving two yellow cards.
Inzaghi has utilized Carlos Augusto’s versatility, deploying him as both a left-sided center-back in a three-man defense and as a left wing-back in a five-man midfield. He serves as a valuable backup to Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco, offering experienced cover ahead of younger options like Palacios and Buchanan.
The Brazilian’s imminent return will bolster Inter’s defensive options as they continue to compete on multiple fronts this season. His recovery is particularly timely as the team enters a crucial period in both domestic and European competitions.
