Cassano: ‘Roma deserved to win’

Former Giallorossi forward Antonio Cassano was finally impressed with Roma’s performance this season, saying they should have beaten Atalanta. The capital side slumped to a narrow 1-0 defeat to La Dea, but wasted a host od chances that should have seen them win the game.

Taking to his Instagram account after the match, Cassano spoke positively of his former side, having been highly critical for much of the season to date.

“I have to congratulate Roma for the first time this year, and not Atalanta.

Here’s why: Atalanta won the game and were solid, but they were not the usual team that plays direct football, attacks and is courageous.

Roma on the other hand played a great match. It’s one of the few times I’ve seen them really play this season.

They deserved to win, forget a draw. It was unfortunate because Abraham had two sensational chances, Zaniolo a couple, too. They had many chances and played with passion.”
