Chelsea-De Ligt talks progressing

Chelsea are reportedly making progress in their talks with Juventus over the signing of defender Matthijs De Ligt. The Dutch international still has two years left on his contract with the Bianconeri but renewal talks have stalled and the club are now listening to offers for him.

Reports in Italy and England have suggested that Chelsea are the club most likely to sign the 22-year-old who has a €120m release clause included in his contract.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs reports that talks between the two clubs are ‘progressing’ and while the Bianconeri prefer a straight-cash deal, they do have an interest in Blues midfielder Jorginho.

It’s also suggested that while Juve were holding firm on a figure close to €80m, their stance has now slightly softened, but the teams are yet to agree on the overall structure of the deal, including important add-ons.

For his part, De Ligt is open to the move despite there being interest in the Dutchman from other clubs.
