Chiesa set for crucial meeting with Thiago Motta as agent explores London options

Start

Federico Chiesa is set to have a pivotal face-to-face meeting with Juventus manager Thiago Motta today. This highly anticipated encounter at the Continassa training ground will be crucial in determining Chiesa’s future at the club. Motta, known for his direct communication style, has been clear about his plans for the squad, and Chiesa’s role remains uncertain.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Motta has previously been non-committal about Chiesa, stating during his introductory press conference that “all the players we have are good guys, and we will make evaluations at the end.” Recently, when Chiesa returned to training without joining the team in Germany, Motta remarked, “He is part of Juventus at the moment, we will see.” The direct conversation between the coach and the player is expected to provide more clarity.

Chiesa’s contract situation adds another layer of complexity. Without a renewal, Juventus risks losing a player in whom they have invested €60 million. His contract expires in 2025, and from January, he could negotiate a free transfer with other clubs. Recent discussions about extending his contract have highlighted significant differences, particularly regarding salary reductions and Chiesa’s desire for a central role in the project, which the club cannot guarantee.

In light of these uncertainties, Chiesa has instructed his agent, Fali Ramadani, to explore opportunities for playing in the Champions League, including potential moves abroad. Ramadani has been in contact with Chelsea and Tottenham in London, and there have been inquiries from Bayern Munich and Manchester United, with the latter being a preferred destination for Chiesa.

Juventus aim to monetize Chiesa’s transfer, seeking around €25-30 million, while also being open to negotiations that could lower the fee. The club is motivated by the potential savings of approximately €12 million in gross salary for the final year of his contract. Should international options fail, Italian clubs like Roma and Napoli remain interested, with managers De Rossi and Conte both keen on the player.
