D’Aversa returns to the bench for Cagliari match: “Superstition is for the weak”

Start

Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the match against Cagliari, Roberto D’Aversa discussed the upcoming game against the Sardinian team, coached by former manager Davide Nicola.

When asked if he would remain in the stands due to the team’s good run, D’Aversa responded, “Superstition is for the weak. Besides, the view from the Cagliari stands is poor. So I’ll be on the bench.”

Regarding the next step he’s asking of his players, D’Aversa stated, “At this moment, nothing is missing, because we need to consider the teams we’ve faced. The fact that we’ve done well in the first few matches doesn’t mean we won’t face difficulties tomorrow. Cagliari played on par with Napoli, despite the heavy scoreline. They’ve invested a lot and are strong. We know their environment is very supportive, and we’re aware of the challenges that pitch can present. We need to be good both physically and mentally. It won’t be a tactical game, but one of duels. I believe this will be the most difficult match.”

When questioned about potential similarities between Cagliari and Empoli, D’Aversa replied, “I don’t allow myself to comment on my colleagues’ tactics, but in my opinion, there are no similarities. We propose a certain type of football, and we know what kind of match to expect. Last year, they had a stadium that really pushed them. We need to be ready from the first minute because they’ll start strong, but we must keep dueling until the end.”
