De Laurentiis: ‘I have spoken with Bernardeschi’

Start

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has given a lengthy press conference on the future of the club, including this summers transfer market. The Napoli patron was speaking in Castel di Sangro where the club will host their summer training camp ahead of the new season:

This will be the third year that we will go to Castel di Sangro after a first retreat in Trentino. We have an agreement for 12 years, so after this we will have another 9 years. Some wonder why we don’t do international tours. Yesterday Charlie Stellitano offered me to go to South America for $ 1.1  million but I refused because the ‘ritiro’ is sacred. The foundations of the whole year are laid, which this year will be even more particular.

We will be in Castel di Sangro from 23 July until 6 August and we will play from 3 to 4 games with European teams that we will host.

Koulibaly and Mertens? The approach to certain problems is made very often of sentiment rather than reason….It will depend only on Mertens and Koulibaly on whether money is the only thing that can satisfy them, or living in Naples in a unique context can be a privilege. Otherwise it won’t concern me anymore.

Bernardeschi, Cavani and Vecino? I have personally spoken with Bernardeschi, it’s already three weeks since I spoke with his agent in Monte Carlo. I also spoke with Spalletti because we cannot take on people who are not compatible with the football we want to play. We will see how things go. On Vecino and Cavani I am not aware of having had such contacts.

I spoke to Ospina. We had to get an answer and I’m waiting because he will be in the national team. I also met Fabian Ruiz and the agents and made my proposal. They told me they were answering me within 15 days. Let’s wait and see.”
