De Rossi’s New Chapter: Saving Ostiamare and Future Coaching Aspirations

Start

Former Roma captain and coach Daniele De Rossi has embarked on a new journey in football by rescuing Ostiamare, a Serie D club, from bankruptcy. During his introductory press conference, De Rossi shared insights into his motivations and future plans.

De Rossi spoke passionately about his connection to the club where he took his first steps in football: “It wasn’t a great sacrifice for me, even though I was made aware of some difficulties. I’m not naive, and there are tricky aspects to manage. I love football, Ostia, and Ostiamare, which I’ve always followed despite my level of football being light-years away from this reality. I don’t perform miracles, but the team should be a means to feel a sense of belonging to the city and bring us closer as a community.”

The former Italian international also addressed his future in coaching after his recent dismissal from Roma: “I’m disappointed not to be coaching, but it’s the best time because I can spend a lot of time with the players. I will continue to coach. Where? I don’t know yet.”

When asked about potential high-profile signings, De Rossi humorously dismissed rumors: “A journalist called me saying he knew about Strootman’s arrival. But if I tell him that, he’ll laugh at me. I don’t think he’s coming to Serie D.”

Regarding the possibility of signing Francesco Totti’s son, Cristian, De Rossi showed respect for the club’s management: “Cristian Totti? He’s enjoying himself in Olbia, I spoke with Francesco. I will never be intrusive, I won’t bother the sporting director, and I’ll never put anyone in a difficult position to sign a player I know.”
