Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Graham Potter at Premier League side Brighton. The former Shakhtar coach has been without a role since leaving the Ukrainian side earlier in the summer, despite having been linked with a number of roles around Europe.
Italian journalists Nicolo Schira and Fabrizio Romano both report that the 43-year-old is in talks with The Seagulls and while no deal is in place yet, talks are progressing well.
Local newspaper The Argus also suggest that De Zerbi is the favourite although an appointment is not imminent and the search is expected to continue into next week.
The Brescian native previously managed Sassuolo in Italy and got off to an impressive start with Shakhtar, winning 20 of his 30 matches opening matches while lifting the Ukrainian Super Cup in his first season.
