Elkann: ‘Juventus are part of the solution’

Start

John Elkann insists that ‘Juventus are not the problem, but part of the solution’ when it comes to the future of football. The Exor CEO was speaking to reporters after the ‘Fondazione Agnelli’ event in Naples (as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport), and took the time to speak about the future of football in Italy and Europe, the importance of Napoli’s success, and why Italian football must be strong enough to help bridge the gap with the Premier League:

“Undoubtedly, for Juventus, this has been a very difficult year off the field; however, the team has shown on the field that it is second, to date, to play in the Europa League semifinals on Thursday and to fight, so that Juventus is, and must be defended in all venues.”

“We, President Ferrero and CEO Maurizio Scanavino are working and doing everything, as has always been done, with respect to the authorities, to protect what are the interests of Juventus, its fans but above all Italian football, but not only there.”

“?Cristiano Giuntoli? He has many options, he will make his choice.”

“Football is important for our country, it is important for Europe, and Juventus is not the problem, it is part of the solution. We are living a moment in which it is important for Italian football to be strong, for European football to be strong, because the Premier League as we have seen again this year continues to strengthen creating a gap that becomes worrying.”

“Gender gaps? We are very well represented and will be more and more represented. What is important is to make sure that those who have talent emerge and, above all, have the opportunity to follow what they have passion for; these initiatives are precisely the impetus to try not to discriminate against anyone.”

“Napoli is celebrating and has reason to celebrate this great victory that the team has achieved with 5 rounds to spare, with an incredible capacity in attack and just as much in defence.”

“Congratulations to Spalletti for what was an extraordinary success that is good for our league and good for Italian football.”
