Fabian Ruiz at risk of being ‘frozen’ out

Start

Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz is at risk of being pushed to the fringes of the squad as he has failed to agree a contract extension. The Spaniard has a contact with the club until 2023, however talks over a new deal have stalled and Manchester United continue to be interested in the player.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the situation is at risk of becoming ugly as a recent meeting between Napoli and the players entourage failed to progress renewal talks.

Many at the club see the 26-year-old as ‘outside’ the clubs project for the new season, while coach Luciano Spalletti is still hoping to have the player available.

Gazzetta suggest the two parties are going through quite a ‘cold’ period and there is a serious risk the player could be pushed to the fringes until his contract expires next summer.

Real Madrid are leading the race to sign him this summer, but they will face competition from the likes of United and a number of other European sides.
