Como coach Cesc Fabregas is on the brink of his Serie A debut as his team prepares to face Juventus in Turin. The match marks Como’s return to Italy’s top flight after a 21-year absence, making it an emotionally charged encounter for the club and its supporters.
In a press conference at Como’s training center in Mozzate, Fabregas expressed his excitement and readiness for the challenge: “We are ready, we will play with our usual mentality. It will be exciting for all of us to play against Juventus. This is an important moment.”
Fabregas emphasized the continuity in his squad selection, stating, “Monday evening’s lineup will be 80% composed of the players who played with us last season. I really enjoy working with this group of players and I have great confidence in them. Gradually, the new players are also integrating and adapting to our mentality.”
The coach faces some selection challenges, with Varane unavailable due to injury (the extent of which is still uncertain), Iovine suspended, and Mazzitelli dealing with a minor physical issue. Fabregas has yet to decide between Pepe Reina and Emil Audero for the goalkeeper position, leaving the choice until the last moment.
Regarding striker Alberto Cerri, Fabregas indicated he might be on the bench for the Juventus match, adding, “Cerri is a player who has given a lot to Como, for the future we will see if he stays or leaves.”
