Gazzetta: Lukaku wants Inter return

Start

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Romelu Lukaku is unhappy at Chelsea and wants a return to Inter. The Belgian international left Italy last summer in a €113m but has struggled under coach Thomas Tuchel.

The German has admitted to struggling to fit Lukaku in his team in previous interviews. The was made evident when the striker was left on the bench in their midweek win over Lille.

Gazzetta report Lukaku is unhappy in London and is prepared to take a pay cut in order to return to Inter. The striker apologised to Nerazzurri supporters in December for the way he had left the club, saying he would one day return.

The report also suggests that Lukaku is in contact with some Inter directors and is aware that a return would be a costly operation, given the club’s finances.

His willingness to take a cut in salary wouldn’t be enough to sway Inter for the moment, and their priority this summer is Sassuolo‘s Gianluca Scamacca.

Gazzetta do suggest that the club’s stance ‘could change with time.’
