Injured Juventus players miss 122 games

Start

Juventus players have missed a combined total of 122 games in just over three months, but the Bianconeri are looking to change things during the break. Juve had suffered a number of setbacks dating back to the summer when Paul Pogba pulled up in a pre-season friendly and was later diagnosed with a meniscus problem.

Today’s La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juve are averaging a one muscle injury a week, and between July and November, there have been 16 cases involving half the squad.

The club appointed Giovanni Andreini in the summer in the position of Head of Performance, a managerial position between the technical and medical staff (trainers, doctors and physios).

Gazzetta suggest that after three months of studying the situation, he is ready to act in a more ‘concrete’ way. Starting from the international break during the World Cup, he will have greater scope for action in the planning of athletic preparation with the aim of reducing the number of injured players in 2023.
