Inter Milan find themselves in a state of concern regarding the physical condition of Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish midfielder was substituted at the end of the first half during the Nations League match against Wales.
Calhanoglu himself confirmed the issue, stating, “I felt a twinge in the same spot where I had discomfort before, and I preferred not to take any risks. I’ll have an MRI on Sunday.”
The Turkish national team coach, Vincenzo Montella, commented after the game, “It’s never easy to give up a player like him who can shift the balance of a match. I took him off because he wasn’t feeling well, but I hope to have him back for the next game.”
Turkey is scheduled to play against Montenegro on Tuesday evening. Had they beaten Wales, Montella’s team would have already secured promotion to League A. However, with Akturkoglu hitting the post from a penalty kick just a minute before the end of regular time, the match ended in a 0-0 draw. In Group 4 of League B, Turkey currently leads with 11 points, 2 points ahead of Wales, who will play at home against Iceland on Tuesday.
Inter Milan are set to play in Verona on Saturday afternoon. Calhanoglu had previously been sidelined during the away match in Rome, suffering an elongation in the adductors of his left thigh. This injury caused him to miss the subsequent three matches against Young Boys, Juventus, and Empoli before making his return against Venezia, Arsenal, and Napoli.
