Inter Inching Closer to Signing Lazio Veteran Acerbi

With the transfer window set to come to a close within the next couple of days, Inter are inching closer to the signing the Lazio veteran Francesco Acerbi.

According to reports from Lazionews24, the Nerazzurri have reached a total agreement with the capital club to sign the 34 year-old central defender on a free loan until the summer of 2023.

With Inter a center-back short following the departure of Andrea Ranocchia to the newly promoted outfit Monza on a free transfer, Inzaghi is keen on signing the Italian international after having worked with him throughout his five-year stay at the helm of the Biancocelesti.

Since arriving to Lazio in 2018 from Sassuolo, Acerbi has reached his peak in his development within a back-three under Inzaghi. The well-documented defender has played pivotal role as he amassed a total of 135 appearances across all competitions, helping his side clinch a Supercoppa and a Coppa Italia.

Following last year’s difficult season where he underwent a fall-out with the fans, it seems that the skipper is keen on departing before the window closes in order to reunite with Inzaghi at the San Siro as he seeks a new opportunity.

With only the green light from owner Steven Zhang remaining for the acquisition to be completed, it is only imminent that Acerbi will join La Benemata as a back-up defender, providing Inter with additional depth in order to compete within several competitions simultaneously.
