Inter: ‘We stand united against racism’

Start

Inter have released a statement in response to the alleged racist abuse aimed at Romelu Lukaku during their 1-1 draw with Juventus yesterday evening. Video footage has since emerged showing parts of the Juventus curva aiming chants against Lukaku, who scored the equalising penalty in last nights Coppa Italia semi-final. A statement from Inter reads:

‘We are brothers and sisters of the world. Since 9 March 1908 this has been our history. We want to firmly reiterate that we stand united against racism and all forms of discrimination. Football and sport must not only be a vehicle of emotions but also of clear and shared values, which have nothing to do with what we saw last night in the last minutes of the Coppa Italia semi-final in Turin, Juventus-Inter. This is why we reiterate all our support, affection and solidarity to Romelu Lukaku, as the football world is doing from many sides in these hours. Forza Rom, we are with you!”.
