Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has received encouraging news regarding the fitness of two key players, Francesco Acerbi and Hakan Calhanoglu. Both players are reportedly close to rejoining the squad for the upcoming match against Venezia.

La Gazzetta dello Sport detail how Acerbi and Calhanoglu sustained injuries during Inter’s match against Roma at the Olimpico about ten days ago. Their absence was felt, but the team managed to perform well without them, securing victories against Young Boys in the Champions League and Empoli in Serie A, while also drawing with Juventus in a thrilling 4-4 encounter at San Siro.

Now, as Inter face a challenging fixture list, including matches against Venezia, Arsenal in the Champions League, and a crucial top-of-the-table clash with Napoli, the potential return of these two players could not come at a better time.

Inzaghi has been cautious in his approach, stating after the Empoli match that there was “confidence but not certainty” regarding the availability of Acerbi and Calhanoglu. The coaching staff is keen to avoid any setbacks and will manage their return carefully to prevent potential relapses that could jeopardize Inter’s campaign.

The current expectation is that both players will rejoin group training in the coming days. However, they may only be risked for the Venezia match if absolutely necessary. The primary goal is to have Acerbi and Calhanoglu available for the crucial Champions League fixture against Arsenal, which could further solidify Inter’s position among Europe’s elite clubs.
