Torino coach Ivan Juric tore into winger Nemanja Radonjic following the 4-2 defeat to Juventus. ‘He lacks respect for this sport. In six months I have been unable to turn him into a football player.’ The strong words followed a game in which the Granata failed to capitalise on a number of chances, despite taking the lead twice in the Derby della Mole. Il Toro had the lions share of clear opportunities in the opening 45 minutes and speaking with DAZN post-match, Juric was left to rue his teams failure to capitalise on their possession and creativity:
“This derby leaves me disappointed for the result, but there are real positives from the way we approached the game, and also negatives where my team still needs to improve.
“It was very clear today, in that we dominated the first half, while the second was tougher and we were distracted on the two goals. It is only right that it ends this way, we do not respect the duties we were given, so we lose the game.
“Radonjic? I struggle to understand these things, in my view he completely lacks respect for this sport. You have things that you know you need to do, you come on and immediately do the opposite, it means you are not in the game.
“This kid has talent, but evidently in these six months working together I have been unable to turn him into a football player. On a corner, you need to be present and alert. You can do it well or badly, but you must be present. Sometimes we get away with these distractions, but today we were made to pay.
“I am very happy, we are growing and I saw a team that really played good football today. The first half was exceptional. There are many areas to improve, such as concentration, but also many positives.”
