Juric laments controversial goal and refereeing decisions in Roma’s defeat to Hellas Verona

Roma manager Ivan Juric expressed his frustration following his team’s loss to Hellas Verona, particularly focusing on what he perceived as a controversial second goal and unfavourable refereeing decisions.

Juric began by questioning the validity of Verona’s second goal, stating, “The second goal, what are we talking about? He gives him an elbow, and the referee doesn’t even go to check. It seems like a clear elbow to me, it breaks him, Ndicka stays down for a few minutes. It’s not light contact. It’s another episode against us.”

Despite the defeat, Juric praised his team’s overall performance: “Roma played a great game, but when you make certain mistakes, you pay for them. We put in a beautiful performance, there was an idea of football, with intensity, with very valid ideas. There were errors, that’s football, and we paid for them. But I saw a team that believes.”

The Roma coach acknowledged that his team is making significant errors, especially in giving the ball away to opponents. He expressed hope that this phase would pass quickly.

Addressing the pressure on the team, Juric compared the performance to their previous match against Fiorentina: “The difference with Florence is abysmal. That evening was a disaster, today we played well, but we’re making big mistakes. On the first goal, we give the ball away, the second is irregular, we’re paying for these things.”

When questioned about his future at the club, Juric deflected, focusing instead on the team’s performance: “Future? You shouldn’t ask me this question. For me, the team did well, we did better than against Torino. Today we made mistakes, and there were referee errors that we paid for. I look ahead, I’m interested in the performance. Analyzing lucidly, I say that Roma did well, conceding very little. Unfortunately, errors are paid dearly, both by the referee and the players.”
