Juventus’ Chief Football Officer Francesco Calvo insists that the club have long term plans for Paul Pogba: ‘We believe in him.’ The Bianconeri director was speaking with Sky Sport Italia (as quoted by TuttoJuve) ahead of Juve’s second-leg match with Freiburg this evening, and touched on the speculation relating to Pogba, the upcoming appeal heading and the historic results for Italian teams in recent days and why it could help Serie A:
“The appeal on 19 April? It’s important to have a date, it’s important for the team and to know when they will have a definitive answer and what we play for in the last championship matches. This gives us a certainty.”
“I would like to congratulate AC Milan, Inter and Napoli for achieving a historic result for Italian football. We are definitely behind other leagues, I am thinking of Spain, England, Germany. Great credit to the teams and to those who managed them who gave their all, I hope this result will be a stimulus for all-round improvement.”
“Pogba? He is the first one who is not happy with this situation and this injury. When you talk about great players everything is emphasised, I’ve read headlines that Juventus would like to dump him: absolutely not. He arrived here when he was 19, for him it’s a family but we are a family that demands a lot. We hope to have him back as soon as possible.”
“We believe so much in Pogba, otherwise we wouldn’t have given him a four-year contract. We are as sorry as he is, we speak daily with the player, he knows we are not happy with this situation just as he is not happy.”
