Juventus Open Renewal Talks with Daniele Rugani

Start

Reports from Italy suggest that negotiations have begun for the renewal of Daniele Rugani’s contract with Juventus. The defender’s current deal is set to expire in June, prompting his agent, Davide Torchia, to engage in talks with the Bianconeri’s management in Turin. While positive signals have emerged, there’s still work to be done to reach an agreement. Despite interest from other clubs, Rugani’s desire to remain in Turin weighs heavily on the negotiation table.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that within the framework of cost reduction, the club has proposed a lower salary compared to the €2.8 million plus bonuses Rugani has been earning thus far. The new offer is reportedly around half of the current fixed salary, supplemented by a variable component linked to personal and team objectives.

Securing Rugani’s contract extension aligns with Juventus’s strategy of maintaining an experienced player base. Rugani, who has spent several seasons with the club, has proven himself capable of performing even in a rotational role. With ambitions including participation in the Club World Cup and pursuit of the Champions League, Juventus’s management recognizes the need to restructure the squad to withstand a demanding schedule of 50-60 matches per season, factoring in players’ international commitments. Renewing the contract of an experienced player like Rugani, albeit at reduced figures, emerges as the most rational choice to ensure both competitiveness on the field and financial sustainability.
