Juventus is ramping up efforts to secure Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta, employing two new tactics in their pursuit of the Dutch midfielder. As the transfer saga continues, Koopmeiners’ actions are further straining his relationship with Atalanta.
Calciomercato report that the first significant move came when Koopmeiners failed to attend a team lunch at Atalanta’s training center in Zingonia. His absence, along with that of Ademola Lookman, raised eyebrows among his teammates, many of whom have shared the locker room with him until recently. This gesture seems to indicate that the rift between the player and the club is widening.
In a second strategic move, Koopmeiners has once again requested that Atalanta negotiate with Juventus to accelerate his departure to Turin. This plea comes despite manager Gian Piero Gasperini’s apparent olive branch, which the player appears to have ignored.
Atalanta, however, remains firm in their stance. Irritated by Koopmeiners’ behavior and the manner in which the situation has unfolded, the club is engaged in a virtual tug-of-war. They seem prepared to drag this out until the last possible day of the transfer window unless Juventus’ sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, presents a truly advantageous offer.
As time passes, the player’s patience appears to be wearing thin. Koopmeiners continues to push for an exit, having presented a third medical certificate citing “stress” as the reason for his absence from training.
The ball is now in Juventus’ court. With Atalanta standing firm, it remains to be seen whether the Turin giants will intensify their efforts and meet the asking price to bring Koopmeiners to the Allianz Stadium before the transfer window closes.
