Juventus v Inter for Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson

Start

Inter could end up going head-to-head with rivals Juventus in their bid to sign Genoa midfielder Albert Gudmundsson. The Icelandic talent, who has had an extraordinary season with 19 goals between club and national team, seems destined to be the subject of a summer tug-of-war between the two fiercest rivals in Italian football: Inter and Juventus.

While Inter’s interest in the Gialloblu number 11 has been known for some months, Juventus seems to have emerged as a contender only in recent days.

According to reports from Tuttosport (via CM) this morning, the Juventus management recently had a meeting with the Giuffrida brothers, the player’s agents. During the conversation, the Old Lady also presented a draft contract to the player to convince him to join the Bianconeri cause. The Icelandic player would be offered a four-year deal worth €2.4 million net per season. This salary is almost double what he currently earns at the Grifone and could rise to €3 million with the achievement of certain bonuses.

The player, for his part, would be delighted to wear the shirt  of Italy’s most decorated club, with which he could also compete in the Champions League and in the Club World Cup scheduled in the USA in the summer of 2025. The real obstacle appears to be Genoa. The Ligurians, buoyed by interest from England in the former PSV player , particularly from Tottenham, value the 26-year-old’s price tag at no less than €35 million. Juventus could lower this figure by including a couple of technical counterparts appreciated by Genoa in the deal, such as young talents Tiago Djalò and Enzo Barrenechea.
