Lazio are very close to completing a move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Marcos Antônio, making him their first summer signing. The 21-year-old is seen as a long-term replacement for Lucas Leiva who could leave the club in the coming weeks.
Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Lazio are ‘very close’ to agreeing a move for the Brazilian worth €7 million plus a further €2 million in bonuses.
The move was also reported by TuttoMercatoWeb who suggest the midfielder has greatly impressed Shakhtar’s Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi in the brief time he was able to work with him.
The ongoing war in Ukraine could make the deal a relatively low-cost operation for Lazio as football in Ukraine is still suspended for now.
