Lotito: “Castellanos is not for sale, the new club captain will be chosen by Baroni”

Lazio president Claudio Lotito confirmed that striker Taty Castellanos is not for sale, despite recent transfer reports. Speaking with Il Messaggero (via Gianlucadimarzio), Lotito offered some updates on the Biancocolesti, including some updates on the transfer market and team dynamics.

Regarding the future of striker Taty Castellanos, Lotito was unequivocal: “He is not for sale. We are counting on him and I reiterate that.” This statement puts to rest any speculation about a potential departure for the Argentine forward.

When asked about the possibility of signing James Rodriguez, Lotito was more cautious: “We’ll see. We need to make a series of evaluations about salary, commissions, compatibility with the club’s new policy, not just focusing on the fact that a player arrives on a free transfer. As Director Fabiani said, we must first think about outgoing transfers. If there are opportunities, we will seize them. The market is not over yet.”

Lotito expressed satisfaction with the season ticket sales, which have reached 22,000: “I’m happy with the numbers.”

Addressing the captaincy issue following Ciro Immobile’s transfer to Besiktas, Lotito clarified: “Marusic and Provedel chose Cataldi? The team doesn’t decide. Baroni decides, focusing on who embodies Lazio’s values. I haven’t spoken with him nor have I had discussions with the group. I want to stay out of the locker room dynamics. We have started a new project and cycle, bringing in people who think about the collective good rather than individual interests.”
