Lazio president Claudio Lotito recently shared his thoughts on various topics concerning the club during a lecture on sports law at Luiss University in Rome. He touched on the current state of the team, transfer market strategies, squad building, and the upcoming match against Juventus after the international break.
On economic interests, Lotito stated, “I need to enhance Lazio, not think about a club abroad. I’m a president with passion; I cultivate economic interests in other activities.”
Regarding the upcoming Juventus-Lazio match, he was optimistic: “I don’t make predictions, but I won’t settle for a draw. I’ll take what the team can achieve on the field. Trophies, like objectives, are achieved and not announced. This applies to the Europa League as well.”
When asked about potential January transfer target Folorunsho, Lotito was dismissive: “What would you do with Folorunsho in January? Do you want a sticker collection? We need to do what’s necessary, and at the moment, I don’t think Lazio needs a midfielder. Of course, this assumes everyone stays healthy. We even have a player like Castrovilli who hasn’t played yet; it’s right to give him chances too. He has technique and is a good player.”
Lotito praised the team’s speed, particularly singling out Tavares: “We have a strong and fast team. Tavares runs at 38 km/h.”
On the topic of Noslin, he confirmed, “Noslin will happen. We’ve chosen players with quality, which of course needs to be proven on the field. Baroni wanted him because he knew him, and we obliged because we consider him a good player. His time will come.”
Addressing the Greenwood situation, Lotito was firm: “Greenwood is absolutely not a regret. Someone who doesn’t accept coming to Lazio can’t be a regret. He’s fine at Marseille; he made a choice, and that’s okay. We don’t accept mercenaries; we only want those who choose Lazio. We’ve had enough of mercenaries.”
