Lazio President Claudio Lotito took Maurizio Sarri out for dinner this week to discuss his contract renewal. The 63-year-old coach has had an impressive debut season with Lazio, leading them to Europa League football for next season while continuing to get the best from Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Corriere dello Sport report that Lotito is keen to tie Sarri down to a long-term contract, given that his current deal expires in 2023.
According to the report, Lotito wants to extend the deal by at least a few years and took Sarri out to dinner to discuss his plans for a long-term Lazio project.
The suggestion is that it was an ‘important’ meeting that further emphasized the seriousness of Lotito’s plans for the Biancocelesti, with Sarri at the helm.
For his part, the coach has asked for some time to consider the offer and establish some guarantees over transfers, but the mood is optimistic.
