Luis Alberto: ‘Immobile will return to scoring and everyone will shut up’

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto believes teammate Ciro Immobile will soon return to scoring goals and silence his critics in the process. The Biancocelesti will host Spanish side Atletico Madrid tomorrow evening, having lost 3-1 to Juventus in the weekend’s Serie A fixture.

Speaking in the pre-match presser, Alberto previewed the match and began by talking about Atleti coach Diego Simeone, who is always a tough opponent to come up against:

“Challenging Simeone is always complicated, he is a club legend. Tomorrow he will come here and it will be tough, we will need nastiness and personality. I am very motivated.”

“Since January last year they have been playing more offensively and with more possession. It has so many quality players like Griezmann and Morata who can change your game at any time. Return to Spain? Yes I always said I wanted to end my career at Cadiz.”

“Playing In Champions with our fans will be even more beautiful. That year played with (former coach, Simone) Inzaghi was strange without fans because football belongs to them. In the league we are lacking ruthlessness in the opponent’s box. We need to have more personality but we are playing well.”

“Our midfielders? They are great. Guendouzi’s career already says it all, he is a good guy. I like Kamada and he is smart. They will all find space. For me it is indifferent who plays next to me. Of Immobile they say that when he scores he is a phenomenon, when he doesn’t he is poor. I see him calm and quiet at the moment. Everyone will shut up when he returns to scoring.”

“I am at the disposal of the coach. However, there are many strong players in my role, I can tell you even 10-12. I am calm and think about working well with the club. With Lazio we never had such a complete roster, we were always missing something. We have to be calm because as soon as we win one or two games, we will return to confidence. I don’t feel like a leader, Ciro the captain is. Maybe I talk more because that’s how I interpret the game.”

“Felipe Anderson did well in Naples while he was a bit missed the other day. Against Juventus it is hard to play because they always double up on you. I hope he and Immobile of them score so they boost confidence. We need them and also Pedro and Isaksen.”
