Inter striker Romelu Lukaku says he always believed they could make it to the Champions League final this season. The Nerazzurri remarkably managed to make their way out of the group stages, qualifying for the last-16 ahead of Barcelona, who they famously beat 1-0 at the San Siro.
Speaking during Inter’s media day ahead of the Champions League final, Lukaku spoke with Sky Sports about his belief in the team and how he believes they need to approach the match against Manchester City:
“I knew that we could go to the Champions League final and I said it via message to (Club president Steven) Zhang, although he answered me with a funny emoji (laughs ed.). You always have to believe and I am here with my teammates to make Inter fans around the world happy.”
“We will have to be very compact as a team and play a complete game defensively. The coach with his staff in the coming days will give us a good analysis on their game and then we will be ready.”
“Me playing in attack? Inter is more important, as I have always said. I am available but the coach makes the choices. It sounds like a diplomatic answer but if Inter wins I am happy.”
“Future? After the final we will talk about it.”
