Marseille closing in on Roberto de Zerbi signing

Ligue 1’s Olympique de Marseille are on the verge of finalizing a deal with Roberto de Zerbi, the former manager of Brighton & Hove Albion and Sassuolo.

De Zerbi, who departed Brighton at the season’s end, has been associated with top clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich. However, recent managerial appointments have shifted the landscape: Chelsea has brought in Enzo Maresca, Erik ten Hag remains at Manchester United, and Vincent Kompany has taken the reins at Bayern Munich.

According to SportItalia, Marseille have now moved swiftly to secure De Zerbi’s services. The Italian coach is reportedly enthusiastic about the opportunity, viewing it as a progressive step in his career.

Negotiations are reportedly in their final stages, with an agreement expected imminently. This would mark De Zerbi’s third managerial position outside of Italy, following his roles at Shakhtar Donetsk and Brighton. Initially, Marseille had considered other candidates such as Sergio Conceicao and Paulo Fonseca, but they appear to have settled on De Zerbi as their choice.
