Massimo Mauro: ‘Juventus should go for Conte’

Start

Former Juventus winger Massimo Mauro believes the club should consider bringing Antonio Conte back to the club this summer. The Bianconeri have secured a place in next seasons Champions League but look almost certain to part ways with Max Allegri, following a disappointing season.

Speaking with ‘Pressing’ (as quoted by Ilbianconero), Mauro suggested that rather than go for Thiago Motta to take over from Allegri, the Bianconeri might be better served by looking to former coach Conte:

“Considering Juventus’ current situation, a figure like Conte might be more suitable. If you think about how he won the title in Turin, the attack of that team, it was quite an achievement. Then, if you consider that Conte said ‘I don’t go to 100 euro restaurants’ and then Allegri reached the Champions League final, we all can make mistakes.

“Thiago Motta? If I were in his place, I would stay for another year. If I were Giuntoli, I would change many players, as many as possible. Not because they are not good, but because it’s like a room, the air has become stale and you need to change. The environment is saturated and you need to change. Conte in this scenario would be more suitable.”
