Milan closing in on Charles De Ketelaere

Start

Milan are close to signing Club Brugges talent Charles De Ketelaere with the midfielder expected in Milan this weekend. The 21-year-old has been the subject of a tug-of-war between Premier League side Leeds and the Rossoneri, with Milan reportedly having won out after directors met with Brugges last week.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that De Ketelaere is ‘one step away’ from joining Milan while Daniele Longo writes that the youngster is expected in Milan this weekend to undergo medical tests before being unveiled as a player next week.

Club Brugges coach Carl Hoefkens has said that the player is struggling at present due to the constant transfer talk, saying:

“As coach, I want everyone on the pitch capable of giving 100% at every moment.

If someone says they cannot do everything physically, tactically or mentally, it is my job to tackle the issue.

He [De Ketelaere] said it was becoming too heavy mentally and that he was worried about injuring himself in training so there is only one conclusion: stop training with the group.”

Disappointed ?No, I have known Charles a long time and I have been heavily involved in his growth.

At times it happens that there are other thoughts, I try to focus on the players who are present 100%.”
