Milan Public Prosecutor: ‘Inter misled the anti-mafia commission by underestimating the problem of ultras with bad faith omissions’

New details have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the ultras groups of Inter and Milan, which led to the arrest of 19 individuals on Monday. In their request for custody of the arrested individuals, Milan prosecutors Paolo Storari and Sara Ombra have made serious allegations against Inter Milan.

The prosecutors wrote: “There was a total underestimation of the phenomenon, even by the Municipal Anti-Mafia Commission, which was misled by Inter.”

This statement refers to hearings held on March 15, 2024, where two Inter officials testified before the Anti-Mafia Commission of the Municipality of Milan. According to the prosecutors, these declarations “attest to the total underestimation of the phenomenon under investigation and a complete disconnect from the reality of the stadium, not to mention some bad faith omissions.”

On April 30, 2024, Inter’s legal team submitted a “memo” that merely “repeated” what had been said “at the municipal level.” This memo revealed an interesting detail: “The president of the municipal anti-mafia commission informed FC Internazionale that the hearing showed FC Inter’s positive action,” in an email dated March 28, 2024. The prosecutors claim this thesis is “disproven by the facts” and “once again proves a total underestimation of the phenomenon, even by the municipal commission.”

The prosecutors further allege that Inter has adopted a “dual attitude: one directed internally, where organizational rules are disregarded; the other directed externally, where the same rules are formally respected.”
