AC Milan are seeking to strengthen their squad ahead of the January transfer window, with a particular focus on acquiring a new striker. The club are aiming to enhance the options available to head coach Paulo Fonseca, targeting not only a forward but also a central midfielder and a full-back. Calciomercato report that among the players under consideration is Randal Kolo Muani, currently with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Kolo Muani, who previously played for Nantes, has struggled to secure a consistent starting position this season under PSG’s manager Luis Enrique. He has made 14 appearances, scoring two goals in Ligue 1. Reports indicate that PSG is willing to let him go as part of a broader squad overhaul aimed at achieving European success. However, the French club prefers a permanent transfer rather than a loan deal, which complicates negotiations.
Milan’s initial approach has been to request Kolo Muani on loan, reflecting their cautious financial strategy for the upcoming transfer window. The club is not prepared for significant investments in their attacking lineup, especially considering Kolo Muani’s substantial salary of €750,000 per month plus bonuses. This wage is considerably high for Milan but manageable for Premier League clubs, where Kolo Muani has also garnered interest.
The negotiation process is expected to be challenging. PSG’s preference for a permanent sale and Kolo Muani’s salary demands present significant hurdles. If PSG were to agree to a loan arrangement, it would require flexibility from both the player in terms of salary and the club regarding the transfer structure.
Kolo Muani’s potential move to Milan is reminiscent of previous interest from the club when he was at Nantes, where he was once on Paolo Maldini’s radar. After moving to Germany and enjoying a successful stint at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 16 goals in 34 matches during the 2022-23 season, his current situation at PSG has led him back into the spotlight as clubs look to bolster their attacking options.
