Milan-Zirkzee: Joorabchian demands €15 million commission

Start

Negotiations are ongoing as Milan seek to finalize the acquisition of Joshua Zirkzee, but his agent Kia Joorabchian is reportedly asking for €15 million in commission. The Dutch forward stands as the Rossoneri’s top priority for the attacking line, but crucial negotiations are set to continue in the coming days.

Calciomercato report how the Bologna striker has been earmarked by Milan’s management as the ideal replacement for Olivier Giroud, who has already moved on to Los Angeles FC. Milan have opted to trigger Zirkzee’s release clause of €40 million, bypassing any further negotiations with teh Rossoblu. The player himself is eager to join the Rossoneri ranks, especially with the presence of his idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the current Senior Advisor of RedBird and a key advocate of the club’s vision under owner Cardinali.

Milan’s position is strengthened by Bayern Munich’s lack of interest (despite holding a 40% sell-on clause) due to their existing striking options and the absence of official bids from Arsenal and Manchester United, who are yet to decide on their transfer strategies. Milan have already reached an agreement with Zirkzee on contractual terms: a five-year deal worth €4 million per season (including bonuses). The remaining hurdle is to persuade Joorabchian, whose consent is crucial for the overall agreement.

The primary obstacle to reaching a final agreement, despite the player’s and Milan’s clear intentions, remains the divergence regarding the commissions owed to agent Kia Joorabchian. The agent has reasserted his demand for €15 million to close the deal. Zirkzee’s representatives are currently in Italy, while Milan are endeavoring to negotiate a lower commission. The final decision rests with Milan’s CEO, Giorgio Furlani, who, alongside Technical Director Geoffrey Moncada, will evaluate whether to accept Joorabchian’s commission demands. This decision will also impact the overall cost of the operation, which is expected to have an annual amortization of €17.25 million (€8 million for the amortization of the transfer fee, plus €9.25 million in gross salary, based on an approximate net salary of €5 million per year).
