Milan continues to view Lazar Samardzic as a key addition for Paulo Fonseca’s squad, but the deal is unlikely to be finalized in the immediate future. The primary hurdle is the cost, with Udinese demanding €20 million plus bonuses for the Serbian midfielder, who is contracted until 2026. Milan’s initial offer, which included players Yacine Adli and Tommaso Pobega as part of the deal, was rejected by Udinese, cooling negotiations.
Calciomercato report that despite this, Milan remains interested in Samardzic, with the transfer window open until August 31. The club has also set its sights on other targets like Emerson Royal from Tottenham and Youssouf Fofana from Monaco, with updates expected soon.
Samardzic has expressed his desire to join Milan, turning down offers from Lazio and Fenerbahçe, and instructing his agent to facilitate the move. Milan has already agreed on commission terms, which are below €5 million.
Udinese is open to selling Samardzic but only for the right price. They have already secured his replacement, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp from Antwerp, ensuring they are prepared for his departure.
In the meantime, Samardzic remains an option for Udinese’s new coach, Runjaic. He played 82 minutes in a recent friendly against Al Hilal, although his performance was underwhelming.
As the transfer deadline approaches, Milan will need to decide whether to meet Udinese’s demands or explore other options. The outcome of these negotiations will significantly impact Milan’s midfield strength for the upcoming season.
