Alvaro Morata has addressed his future following Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, hinting at an imminent move to AC Milan. The striker, who has just bid farewell to his Atletico Madrid teammates, spoke to El Partidazo de Cope about his next steps.
“Am I ready for Milan? I need to undergo the medical, but yes,” Morata stated, confirming the widespread reports of his impending transfer to the Italian club. This statement comes after he said goodbye to his Atletico Madrid colleagues, expressing gratitude for their support during challenging times.
Reflecting on his departure from Atletico Madrid, Morata explained, “When you can’t give 100% for some reason, it’s better to leave. I don’t want to be dishonest, and I’m not, but winning the Euros with Spain is equivalent to winning a title with Atletico for me.”
The 31-year-old striker is expected to sign a four-year contract with Milan, with a potential option for a fifth year. The Rossoneri are set to trigger his €13 million release clause, a move that Atletico Madrid reportedly prefers.
Morata’s transfer to Milan marks a significant acquisition for the Italian club, who turned their attention to the Spanish international after their pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee fell through. The striker’s experience and recent success with the national team make him an attractive option for Milan as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
